World of warcraft:
Cataclysm

About:

Cataclysm is the third expansion to World of Warcraft and was released on December 7, 2010. More than 3.3 million copies were sold within the first 24 hours but fans were not prepared as alliances were broken, cities crumbled and the land was ripped apart. Deathwing had returned and the cataclysm followed.

Below is a collection from the campaign that I am proud to have worked on.

The Logo

The story and themes of destruction, fire and chaos are clearly illustrated in the Cataclysm logo.

WoW_CAT_Map.jpg

The Map

Several maps were created of various sizes and resolutions both in RGB and CMYK to ensure brand consistency and color accuracy no mater what was asked.

The Portal

The portal ring was originally designed and crafted specifically for the packaging but a second high resolution, fully detailed and complete ring was created for all promotion and online needs.

The Character

Cataclysm continued the trend of focusing on one main antagonist and Deathwing filled the portal beautifully.

Reinforcing the Look & Feel

It was important to establish a molten hot look for the headlines and subheads. A master file was created and all headlines were made with this file and exported as smart objects to maintain consistency.

Epic Screenshots

With each expansion, the game engine continued to advance making it easier and harder to capture moments in time with energy and excitement that draw players into the ever expanding world.

2013 Battle Chest

New players to World of Warcraft were able to instantly get caught up with the game simply by purchasing this all encompassing version of the game including all prior expansions and content.

As each expansion became more complex and rich with detail, we opted to keep this packaging simple, clean and elegant. A more refined type was selected and the map was printed on a metallic foil that would glow and reflect when it caught the light.

Promotion items

Deathwing’s Reach Was Far and Wide

Cataclysm had by far the largest retail presence compared to all other WoW title. 100’s of promotion materials were created of all shapes and sizes. Here are just a few.

The Story Continues

Fans are treated to new content and the next chapter of the story with each patch release. It was a true treat to wok on these patch logos and their online campaigns.
